Seven-Year Changes in Bulk Density Following Forest Harvesting and Machine Trafficking in Alberta, Canada
نویسندگان
چکیده
Processes responsible for natural recovery of compacted forest soils are poorly understood, making estimating their problematic. Bulk density was measured over 7 years at nine boreal sites in Alberta, Canada, where harvest-only and three skidding treatments were installed (~10,000 samples). Air soil temperatures, moisture redox potential, snow depth also on the adjacent seven-cycle skid trail. Significant increases bulk occurred when water potential wetter than ?25 kPa. After 1 year, an additional significant increase 0.03 Mg m?3 across all treatments, depths, sites. The is attributed to mechanics process rebound disruption biological processes. By year 7, secondary had recovered trafficked soil, but not area. Some freezing no effect density, which moderated by snowpack. array physical processes, texture, supply, weather required make effective decompacting agent did occur. shrink–swell relevant because remained wet. As a result, failed recover after 20 cm. freeze–thaw as decompaction far more complex commonly assumed, its effectiveness cannot be assumed temperatures below 0 °C measured.

in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...
15 صفحه اولLiDAR Sampling Density for Forest Resource Inventories in Ontario, Canada
Over the past two decades there has been an abundance of research demonstrating the utility of airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) for predicting forest biophysical/inventory variables at the plot and stand levels. However, to date there has been little effort to develop a set of protocols for data acquisition and processing that would move governments or the forest industry towards co...

OBJECTIVES To estimate the number and cost of asthma-related productivity loss days due to absenteeism and presenteeism (at work but not fully functioning) in Alberta in 2005. METHODS Using data from the 2005 Canadian Community Health Survey, this study focused on people of working age (18-64 years), who reported having an asthma diagnosis. Total asthma-related disability days, including in-b...

Echinococcus multilocularis in Urban Coyotes, Alberta, Canada
Echinococcus multilocularis is a zoonotic parasite in wild canids. We determined its frequency in urban coyotes (Canis latrans) in Alberta, Canada. We detected E. multilocularis in 23 of 91 coyotes in this region. This parasite is a public health concern throughout the Northern Hemisphere, partly because of increased urbanization of wild canids.
